Harlequin

Harlequin

Have you ever thought that life is just a stage
and that every day just turns another page?
Every actor plays a role in the most practical of jokes
Every lyric being written by a sage?

What will you be tomorrow in this script?
Becoming deader than a corpse within a crypt
Doing what you have to do while slowly dying like a fool, as you come to realize this joke's on you.

And who watches over you?
Does anybody 'really'  know?
Oh yes - they pretend they do, to console and to control
Harlequin - always buying all the spin
Harlequin - you never learn and never win

All the time inside your soul you play a song
Singing that you somehow know there's something wrong
Someone you forgot to be, someone longing to be free
Someone wishing you were'nt where you don't belong
Someone wondering how your life could go so wrong

And who watches over you?
Does anybody 'really'  know?
Aw yeah - they pretend they do, to console and to control
Harlequin - always crumbling from within
Harlequin - you never learn and never win

(leadbreak)

So you take your place behind your plastic face
Fated as a loser in the human race
Programmed by the thought-police you struggle for your tiny piece, while every essence of your spirit is debased

And who watches over you?
Does anybody 'really'  know?
Aw yeah - they pretend they do, to console and to control
Harlequin - always buying all the spin
Harlequin - you never learn and never win
Harlequin - forever crumbling from within
Harlequin - harlequin.
